Cybersecurity: Incident Response and Practices for More Resilient Environments
This session will address cybersecurity from two complementary perspectives: operational incident management and the implementation of structured practices to strengthen security in a sustainable way.
In the first part, key processes for incident detection, analysis, and response will be presented, including the role of a Security Operations Center (SOC) and the typical response workflows used in practice.
In the second part, participants will explore cybersecurity practices applicable to different environments, learning how to adopt a structured approach based on recognized best practices and security frameworks, without unnecessary complexity.
Through practical examples, the session will examine the measures that have the greatest impact on risk reduction and how to integrate them into the day-to-day operations of organizations.
UNICC, the digital services center of the United Nations, based in Quart de Poblet, will bring together experts who will share their hands-on experience and best practices applicable to a wide range of contexts, from individual environments to complex organizations.
Module 1: How Do You Manage Your Incidents?
Objective:
To provide a practical understanding of how cybersecurity incidents are detected, managed, and responded to in real-world scenarios.
Key Messages:
- What constitutes an incident and how it is identified.
- The role of a Security Operations Center (SOC).
- The typical response workflow (detection → analysis → containment → recovery).
- Real-world examples and common attack patterns.
- The importance of clear processes and effective coordination.
Module 2: Cybersecurity Practices for a Safer and More Resilient Environment
Objective:
To provide a clear foundation for applying cybersecurity practices in a structured and practical way.
Key Messages:
- Why a structured approach is needed, rather than relying solely on isolated solutions.
- What security frameworks such as CIS and ISO mean in practice, without unnecessary complexity.
- Which cybersecurity practices truly make a difference.
- How to strengthen security through concrete and accessible actions.
- Mindset shift: from reactive to structured and resilient.
