- València Innovation Capital is looking for startups and companies that are testing artificial intelligence solutions for emergency prevention, response, and civil protection.
- Up to six projects will be selected, each receiving 10,000 euros.
- Proposals may be submitted through November 11.
We are launching a call for proposals through CitCom.ai for experiments in prevention, intervention, and emergency civil protection as part of the Valencia City Council’s GovTech Challenges, via Valencia Innovation Capital. The initiative is part of the CitCom.ai South node, the European Test and Experimentation Facility (TEF) for AI in smart and sustainable cities.
The goal is for companies—including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups—to validate their solutions in a real-world urban setting with the support of the Valencia TEF. The experiments will last three months and are expected to generate insights that can be applied to other European cities facing similar challenges.
Six Challenges for Valencia
The call for entries is divided into six separate challenges:
- Flood Forecasting
- Resource Management for Firefighting
- Locating People Who Need Support
- Public Emergency Alert Systems
- Display of resources from various emergency services (fire department, police, and 112)
- Smart Traffic Management and Crowd Detection at Major Events
One project will be selected per challenge, provided it meets the minimum score requirements. If no project is selected for a particular challenge, the funding allocated for that challenge may be used to fund a second proposal in another lot, with a maximum of two per lot.
What Does the TEF in Valencia Offer?
The selected teams will have access to expert support services (use case definition, urban AI sandbox, cybersecurity, algorithm development and testing), infrastructure such as the VLCi platform, the VRAIN GPU cluster, or CitCom.ai’s Minimum Viable Data Space, as well as access to the city’s open data. Certain municipal data may be requested through the sandbox, always subject to prior authorization and data protection safeguards.
How to participate
- Companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and startups may apply, either individually or as a temporary joint venture.
- Each bidder may submit only one proposal for a single lot.
- The proposal is submitted electronically through the Public Sector Procurement Platform.
- Deadline: November 11.
