City Challenges
We launch open challenges that connect startups, companies and talent with public administration to develop innovative solutions with a direct impact on the city.
GovTech Challenges
Valencia City Council, through València Innovation Capital, has launched the GovTech Challenges programme to address urban and municipal service challenges through innovative—and, where appropriate, disruptive—technological solutions.
Using a Project Competition procurement model, the programme gives startups, companies and the wider innovation ecosystem the opportunity to propose solutions to challenges identified through the day-to-day work of municipal services that can be addressed through technology.
The initiative has three main objectives:
- Improve quality of life by making Valencia a more inclusive, innovative and technologically advanced city.
- Strengthen public-private collaboration to identify and develop the best solutions to urban challenges.
- Support the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem by creating opportunities to test and scale new technologies.
Each challenge is launched as an individual Project Competition and published on Spain’s Public Sector Procurement Platform, where applicants can access the competition guidelines and application documents needed to submit their proposals.
