From October 23 to January 10, 2027, Plaza de la Crida will host an accessible interpretation center that combines virtual reality, a tactile model, and accessible resources to bring the history of this monument to everyone.
The “Més que unes Torres” project offers a new way to discover one of Valencia’s most iconic landmarks through an immersive, inclusive, and accessible cultural experience.
Located in Plaza de la Crida, across from the Serranos Towers themselves, this temporary interpretation center offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the monument’s history and architecture while overcoming some of the physical barriers that make visiting it difficult. The exhibition will be open to the public from October 23, 2026, to January 10, 2027.
An experience that lets you discover heritage in a different way
The space brings together a variety of resources so that everyone can explore cultural heritage from different perspectives:
- Virtual reality: an immersive experience that recreates the interior of the Serranos Towers and allows you to travel back in time to learn about their history.
- Tactile model: a scale model that allows visitors to explore the monument through touch.
- Audiovisual content: subtitled videos that explore the history of the towers.
- Accessible audio guides and easy-to-read panels: resources designed to make the content easier to understand for a diverse audience.
The initiative aims to ensure that accessibility is not a barrier to enjoying cultural heritage, but rather an opportunity to explore new ways of bringing it closer to the public.
A GovTech Challenge to Promote Accessible Tourism
“Més que unes Torres” is the winning project of a GovTech challenge launched by the Valencia City Council through Valencia Innovation Capital, in collaboration with the General Directorate for Disability. The challenge focused on how to create a cultural interpretation experience tailored to people with disabilities without physically altering a protected monument such as the Serranos Towers.
Through collaboration between the public sector and the innovation ecosystem, the project transforms a real need into a concrete solution that combines technology, accessibility, and cultural outreach. In addition to enhancing the visitor experience, the center serves as a showcase for solutions that can inspire new accessible tourism initiatives at other heritage sites.
