Serranos Towers Interpretation Centre: ‘More Than Just Towers’
A GovTech project focused on tourism and people with disabilities that applies virtual reality and accessible technologies to democratise access to Valencia’s historical heritage.
ADAPTED INTERPRETATION CENTRE
“More Than Just Towers”
Challenge Objective
The initiative involves the installation of a fully accessible temporary cultural pavilion that will enable anyone to explore the history and architecture of the Serranos Towers through an immersive and inclusive experience, overcoming the physical limitations of one of the city’s key heritage monuments.
The official opening of the space will take place on 1 September and it will remain open to the public free of charge until 30 November 2026, serving as a demonstrator of technological innovation applied to heritage, accessibility, and inclusive tourism.
The centre incorporates technologies such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, immersive audiovisual systems, an accessible tactile model, QR-code audio guides, and easy-to-read panels, offering an experience adapted for people with visual, hearing, physical, and cognitive disabilities.
In addition, the project includes the hiring of cultural facilitators with disabilities, further reinforcing the City Council’s commitment to employment inclusion.
