The Super·lab series, organized by Sono·lab—València Innovation Capital’s sound research lab—will hold a special event this coming Friday, June 19, at Las Naves with Super·lab 24: Sediments Showcase, an event dedicated to experimental electronic music that will feature four performances and sessions centered around the Valencian label Sediments.

With this event, which will mark the end of the season before the summer break, Super·lab once again turns the spotlight on the local scene and on projects that explore new forms of sound creation from the fringes of electronic music. The series will resume its regular schedule in September.

Sediments

Sediments is a publishing project launched in 2024 by Jaime Romero and David Ortolà, two figures who have been involved in sound research and music production for more than twenty years through projects such as Pájaro Dune, Miniservice, and Lontano.

Following a long history of collaboration that began in 2000, the two have created this label with the goal of continuing to challenge the boundaries and definitions of electronic music, through a practice characterized by dialogue between diverse aesthetics and constant exploration. Their second release will be out on August 28.

Four Ideas for a Special Edition

The event will kick off at 5:00 p.m. with a live performance by Estrato Aurora—the stage name of Jaime Romero, one of the legendary figures of the Valencian underground scene. His music combines production and experimental improvisation using analog instruments, creating unconventional forms of dance music.

At 6:00 p.m., DJ Fran Campos will present a set built around a carefully curated selection of vinyl records, exploring the fringes of electronic music from an open and eclectic perspective.

At 7:30 p.m., Inferno ε will take the stage—an audiovisual performance created by Syoqh and Josephine’ Soundscapes. Conceived as a modular work in constant transformation, the piece began as an exercise in catharsis in response to the complex contemporary context. Each performance is unique and takes on different forms, improvisational methods, and aesthetics, while always maintaining a strong poetic dimension.

The program will conclude at 8:30 p.m. with a set by Medi, another key figure in Valencia’s electronic music scene, whose approach to DJing is characterized by meticulous music selection and a constant desire to explore.

Super·lab and Contemporary Sound Creation

With this twenty-fourth edition, Super·lab continues to establish itself as a platform for sound experimentation, artistic exchange, and the promotion of new musical practices.

The series is part of the activities of Super·Sonic: Francisco López Collection of Experimental Music and Audio Art, the archive dedicated to preserving and promoting the heritage of contemporary sound creation, which can be accessed both online and in person at Las Naves.

Through initiatives like this one, València Innovation Capital and València Music City are reinforcing their commitment to cultural innovation and to positioning Valencia as a leading hub for experimental music and new sound cultures.
