LOGOS

Description

The RescueME project, funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme, aims to protect cultural and landscape heritage from climate change, disaster risks, and other impacts such as pollution and overtourism, with a particular focus on European coastal landscapes.

In Valencia, l’Horta becomes a living laboratory for identifying risks and designing tools that strengthen its ecosystem services, with the direct participation of agricultural organisations and farmers’ unions.

Pilots in Valencia

The project aims to develop, test, and demonstrate the effectiveness of an action framework based on the Resilient Historical Landscapes (RHL) approach, complemented by data, models, methodologies, and tools that enable the assessment of risks and opportunities and support the co-development of innovative, inclusive, and equitable resilience strategies.

In l’Horta de València (recognised as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System – GIAHS), one of the five Resilient Landscape Laboratories (R-labscapes) will be established as a representative European coastal landscape. The R-labscapes will serve to validate the project’s results and ensure their replicability.

ACTIONS

Assessment and monitoring of the heritage value and resilience of Valencia’s GIAHS territory (l’Horta and part of Albufera).
Development of a resilience strategy for Valencia’s GIAHS territory, including a repository of resilience solutions, data resources, nature-based solutions, and related tools. Creation of governance tools and development of Serious Game tools.
Development of a digital data management platform.
Co-creation and evaluation activities involving local stakeholders. Establishment of a Learning Community.
Communication of project results and awareness-raising on the resilience of cultural landscapes such as Valencia’s GIAHS territory.
