Techstars Startup Weekend fosters entrepreneurial talent and strengthens Valencia’s international standing

  • More than a hundred participants are gathering at Las Naves through Sunday to develop innovative projects as part of a 54-hour intensive program organized by the global Techstars network
  • The initiative has the support of the City Council to establish the city as one of Europe’s leading technology and entrepreneurship hubs

From June 12 to 14, Valencia will host Techstars Startup Weekend Valencia, an international initiative that will bring together more than a hundred entrepreneurs, professionals, students, and tech experts at Las Naves with the goal of turning innovative ideas into viable business projects in just 54 hours. Organized by a team of volunteers and supported by the global Techstars network, the event will allow participants to work in multidisciplinary teams, validate business proposals with real potential customers, and present their projects to an international jury made up of experts from the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Paula Llobet, the Valencia City Council’s Councilor for Tourism, Innovation, and Investment Attraction, emphasized that “we are delighted to welcome Techstars Startup Weekend Valencia to Las Naves. Supporting initiatives like this is part of Valencia’s commitment to strengthening our entrepreneurial ecosystem and to innovation as a driver of economic growth. Our city believes in talent, the entrepreneurial spirit, and technology as tools for building a more competitive, sustainable future full of opportunities.”

Llobet also emphasized that “events like this help forge new connections, attract knowledge, and create projects with growth potential, reinforcing Valencia’s position as one of Europe’s most dynamic hubs of innovation.”

The Techstars Startup Weekend event comes at a particularly opportune time for Valencia’s innovation ecosystem. According to the Dealroom 2026 report, Valencia already has a startup ecosystem valued at 7.3 billion euros and continues to show sustained growth in both business creation and investment attraction.

Valencia Digital Summit

This position is reinforced by the impact of major international events held in the city. The impact report for the Valencia Digital Summit 2025, presented this week, concludes that the event generated 26 million euros in economic impact for the Valencian economy—29% more than the previous year—and contributed 11.6 million euros to GDP. In addition, it brought together more than 12,000 professionals from over 120 countries, 3,000 startups, 800 investors, and 1,500 international corporations, cementing Valencia’s position as one of Europe’s leading hubs for innovation and tech entrepreneurship.

The same report highlights that participating startups expect to raise more than 560 million euros in funding thanks to the contacts made during the event, of which more than 50 million are directly attributed to opportunities that arose at the Valencia Digital Summit 2025. In this context, Techstars Startup Weekend Valencia aims to continue expanding opportunities for local talent, strengthening international connections, and helping new entrepreneurial initiatives gain access to global networks for mentoring, investment, and growth.

Over the course of three intensive days, participants will have the opportunity to develop business models, create prototypes, receive specialized mentoring, and learn from the entrepreneurial methodology of Techstars, one of the world’s leading organizations in supporting high-potential startups.

The program is open to a wide range of participants, from students and professionals looking to change careers to developers, designers, and early-stage entrepreneurs. No prior experience or business idea is required to participate.

A Boost for Valencia’s International Profile

The organizers of Techstars Startup Weekend Valencia aim to help raise the local ecosystem’s international profile and strengthen connections between Valencian talent and the leading global innovation and investment networks.

The event’s main organizer, Oki Alexander, has stated that the goal of the initiative is “to put Valencia on the map as one of Europe’s leading startup hubs,” by leveraging “the energy, talent, and innovative capacity of a city ready to build major projects with global impact.”

The organization views this first edition as the beginning of a long-term relationship with the city and as a potential first step toward attracting future acceleration and investment initiatives linked to the international Techstars network.

Founded in 2006, Techstars has supported thousands of startups around the world and has contributed to the development of more than 5,000 companies with a combined market capitalization exceeding $133,400 million, establishing itself as one of the most influential entrepreneurship platforms in the global technology ecosystem.

In addition to participants, the organization is looking to bring on board sponsors and partners who wish to support the development of Valencia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, as well as volunteers with knowledge of English and Spanish to help organize the event.
