The City Council and the Regional Government are promoting a unified registry and online voting for all sports federations through the GovTech challenges

  • A shared digital infrastructure will make it possible to consolidate data from the 58 sports federations and ensure more transparent election processes
  • Two GovTech solutions will create a Federated Unique Identifier to improve management, public decision-making, and athlete engagement

As part of the GovTech challenges, the Valencia City Council, through Valencia Innovation Capital, and the Valencian Regional Government have collaborated to launch two strategic initiatives aimed at digitizing the sports ecosystem: the Unified Federation Registry and the Online Voting App.

“The goal is to create a common digital infrastructure for the 58 sports federations in the Valencian Community,” explained the Councilor for Innovation, Tourism, and Investment Attraction, Paula Llobet, who emphasized that this initiative will make it possible to “address historical inequalities among federations and provide them with secure, standardized technological tools for managing their data.”

Llobet pointed out that, until now, “not all federations had the same resources to identify and manage their members, nor did they have reliable systems for processing information.” He added that “it was essential to guarantee the right to vote for all federation members, regardless of their place of residence.”

In this regard, the “App Voto Telemático” challenge will help put an end to the limitations associated with in-person voting alone. The winning bidder, Arescoop, has been developing a secure digital application since last January that will enable the management of early online voting in the electoral processes of sports federations. The tool will undergo testing and a three-month pilot phase, by the end of which it must be fully operational.

Single Federated Census

For its part, the Valencia-based company Deepsense has been developing, since last September, a technological solution that will consolidate and harmonize data from the sports federations in the Valencian Community. This tool will enable the creation of a Unique Federation Identifier and a unified, secure, and auditable data model, ensuring the reliability and quality of federation information.

Among its main benefits is the improvement in public decision-making, as it makes it easier to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each sport, thereby allowing for better-targeted public policies, the optimization of resources, and the strengthening of governance within the Valencian sports system.

Both challenges have been launched through GovTech project competitions organized by València Innovation Capital, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Sports of the Valencian Regional Government and the Association of Sports Federations of the Valencian Community (Confedecom).
