• Nearly a hundred professionals are participating in the first workshop after the summer, which focuses on the potential of artificial intelligence to have a positive impact and on preventing bias.

• The series, taught by specialists from the United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC), will continue through December with sessions on data, cloud computing, and quantum computing.

The Valencia City Council, through Valencia Innovation Capital, and the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC) have resumed the series of training sessions designed to provide Valencia’s technology and innovation ecosystem with specialized knowledge about some of the technologies that are transforming society and the economy.

The first session following the summer break, held today at La Harinera, brought together nearly a hundred professionals, highlighting the interest of the Valencian tech community in specialized training in new technologies.

The workshop, led by specialists from UNICC—the UN’s computing center based in Quart de Poblet—focused on artificial intelligence and its responsible use, addressing two key issues: the potential of AI to have a positive impact in areas such as health, education, the environment, and development, and the need to identify and prevent biases that may affect artificial intelligence systems.

Paula Llobet, the councilmember for Innovation, Technology, the Digital Agenda, and Investment Attraction, emphasized that “innovation requires knowledge, talent, and collaboration, and these training sessions are an opportunity to bring the expertise of professionals working on technology projects with international reach into our ecosystem.”

“Our collaboration with UNICC allows us to share knowledge and best practices while also strengthening Valencia’s position as a leading hub for innovation and technology,” Llobet added.

A program running through the end of the year

The program will continue over the next few months with new training activities led by UNICC specialists.

On October 15, the theme will be “Data,” featuring content on unified data platforms and the use of data to support humanitarian aid and development.

On November 12, the session will focus on the cloud, exploring how the United Nations uses these technologies to provide global digital services and the role of cloud platforms in digital innovation.

The series will conclude on December 10 with a session on quantum computing, which will provide an overview of its fundamentals, opportunities, and the challenges it poses for cybersecurity.

The training sessions are part of a collaboration between the Valencia City Council—through Valencia Innovation Capital—and UNICC to strengthen the digital capabilities of the Valencian ecosystem, share experiences and best practices, and foster collaboration around technological innovation.
