The United Nations International Computing Center (UNICC) and València Innovation Capital have launched a new partnership to strengthen knowledge sharing and the development of digital skills within Valencia’s innovation ecosystem. The initiative will consist of a series of short training sessions focused on some of the key areas driving digital transformation, such as artificial intelligence (AI), data, cybersecurity, and quantum computing.
The sessions, which will be held at La Harinera as part of the València Innovation Capital ecosystem, will provide a space for dialogue and knowledge sharing among UNICC specialists and various stakeholders in the Valencian innovation community, including startups, entrepreneurs, accelerators, students, and technology professionals.
In this regard, Paula Llobet, Councilwoman for Tourism, Innovation, and Investment Attraction for the City of Valencia, emphasized that “this collaboration with UNICC reinforces Valencia’s position as a hub open to knowledge, talent, and innovation.” “At Valencia Innovation Capital, we want to connect the experience and knowledge of international institutions with our local ecosystem, bringing key technologies such as artificial intelligence, data, cybersecurity, and quantum computing to our startups, companies, students, and professionals,” she added.
By combining UNICC’s global expertise with local talent and innovation, this initiative aims to strengthen digital capabilities, share practical experiences, and foster collaboration across the city’s entire technology ecosystem.
The first session after the summer will be held on September 10 and will focus on “Artificial Intelligence: AI for Good and Preventing Bias.” Those interested in attending can register at https://shorturl.at/hKNxM.
During the session, UNICC will present some examples of artificial intelligence-based solutions—designed and developed at its Quart de Poblet facility—to support the United Nations system and other international organizations around the world. Among other topics, the session will address how AI is being used to improve access to health services, support vulnerable populations, strengthen emergency preparedness, and enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian operations.
Participants will also learn about the principles of responsible artificial intelligence, including aspects such as governance, privacy, security, human oversight, and explainability—all of which are fundamental to developing reliable, ethical, and scalable AI solutions.
UNICC in Valencia
UNICC has been part of the United Nations Support Base in Valencia since its early years. Currently, its office in Valencia is UNICC’s main operational center and its largest office in terms of staff, reflecting the city’s strategic role in the development and delivery of digital solutions and services for the United Nations system.
