- Bloom Together, an initiative led by València Innovation Capital and Startup Valencia, has brought together ten leading communities to strengthen women’s leadership within the innovation ecosystem
- Valencia brings together more than 250 professionals to boost female entrepreneurship in technology
On Friday, Valencia gave a fresh boost to women’s entrepreneurship with the holding of Bloom Together, the first major event to bring together the city’s leading communities of women involved in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. The event, organised by València Innovation Capital – the Valencia City Council’s innovation strategy – and Startup Valencia, brought together more than 250 professionals at Las Naves with the aim of strengthening collaborative networks, generating new opportunities and continuing to move towards a more diverse and inclusive innovation ecosystem.
The Councillor for Tourism, Innovation and Investment Attraction, Paula Llobet, emphasised that “talent knows no gender, but opportunities are still not available on an equal footing. “At València Innovation Capital, we are working to break down these barriers and create spaces where women can connect, start businesses and lead technology projects on an equal footing.” In this regard, she noted that “Bloom Together demonstrates that when public authorities, communities and the wider ecosystem work together, we can multiply the impact and accelerate the development of female talent.”
The event brought together ten leading communities for the first time —SheLeads by Startup Valencia, Womenalia, Valencia Tech Women, EVAP, The Impact Project, The Break by EOI, Women Techmakers by Google Developers Group, AJEV Woman, OPEN LAB and Proyecto FUTURA by ASEDEC+I+A— for a day-long event focused on leadership, innovation and building connections between female entrepreneurs, professionals, investors and stakeholders in the ecosystem.
A strategy to promote female talent
The Bloom Together event forms part of València Innovation Capital’s commitment to promoting female entrepreneurship and leadership as part of its strategy to develop the innovation ecosystem. In the last year alone, the various initiatives launched by the City Council have reached more than 2,500 women and girls, addressing all stages of talent development: from sparking an interest in STEAM subjects to business acceleration and access to leadership roles.
Notable among these programmes are Technovation Girls Comunitat Valenciana, which has introduced nearly 2,000 girls to technology and entrepreneurship; STEM Talent Girl, aimed at encouraging careers in science; the European programme The Break, which promotes international female entrepreneurship; and the Dones de Ciència project, which raises the profile of female role models through urban art initiatives.
This initiative takes on even greater significance in a context where the gender gap remains one of the main challenges facing the technology sector. According to the 2026 National Report on Tech and Innovative Companies, women account for just 18 per cent of the founders of technology companies in the Valencian Community, slightly above the national average of 17 per cent.
A network to support further growth
In addition to the participating communities, Bloom Together has welcomed representatives from STEAM programmes, accelerators, technology hubs and organisations linked to entrepreneurship and innovation, establishing itself as a new leading platform for female talent in the city.
Through initiatives such as this, València Innovation Capital continues to strengthen an innovation model that combines the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem with active equal opportunities policies, helping to ensure that more and more women drive forward technology projects and lead the city’s economic and social transformation.
