Valencia Supports the New Generation of Women in Technology at the Technovation Girls CV Finals

  • València Innovation Capital has launched the “Reconectados” challenge, a call to create apps that help ensure no child is left behind. These apps are designed to promote accessibility, cultural diversity, respect, and emotional well-being.
  • The regional final held today at the UPV brought together teams that have developed technological solutions with a social impact

Valencia hosted the regional final of Technovation Girls Comunidad Valenciana 2026 today, Saturday, the international program promoted by the City Council through València Innovation Capital, which fosters entrepreneurship and interest in technology among girls and young women aged 8 to 18 through the development of mobile apps with social impact. It is the world’s largest technology entrepreneurship competition, and the regional leader is Talent Growth Management Business and People, represented by María José Valero, who serves as the Regional Ambassador.

The final was held at the Polytechnic University of Valencia and brought together dozens of participating teams that have spent the last few months working on technological solutions designed to solve real-world problems, combining programming, entrepreneurship, creativity, and teamwork.

Paula Llobet, the councilor for Tourism, Innovation, and Investment Attraction, emphasized that “programs like Technovation Girls are essential because they introduce technology to girls and teenagers in a practical, creative way that addresses real-world social issues.”

This year, Technovation Girls has taken on a very important challenge launched by València Innovation Capital: “Reconectados,” a challenge to create apps that help ensure no child is left behind. Apps to promote accessibility, cultural diversity, respect, and emotional well-being. Because technology should also serve to care for, include, and connect people.

Paula Llobet emphasized that “here at the Valencia City Council, we have a clear priority: to promote STEM careers and women’s technological entrepreneurship from an early age. Because the future of innovation needs more women, more diversity, and more talent like that of the Technovation Girls participants.”

Since 2018, Technovation Girls has held six events in the Valencian Community, with more than 2,000 participating girls, around 500 mentors, and the collaboration of more than 30 companies and organizations committed to fostering female talent in technology.

The program aims to reduce the gender gap in science and technology through projects in which participants develop mobile applications designed to address social and urban challenges, while gaining skills in leadership, business, and entrepreneurship.

Valencia and Its Initiatives to Promote Women’s Interest in STEAM Fields

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote women’s interest in STEAM fields in the city, spearheaded by València Innovation Capital. Notable programs include STEM Talent Girl, carried out in partnership with the ASTI Foundation, as well as collaborations with initiatives such as STEAM4Girl at the University of Valencia and other projects related to science, robotics, programming, and digital skills training.

As part of València Innovation Capital, more than 2,500 women and girls have participated in programs related to technology training, leadership, and entrepreneurship throughout 2025.

During her remarks, Paula Llobet also emphasized that “we want Valencia to continue being a city committed to innovation, but also a city committed to the talent of its girls and young people. Because the future of technology is also being built here today.”
