Valencia, the Only Spanish City to Host the Global Pokémon GO City Safari Event in 2025

  • Held in collaboration with the Valencia City Council, through València Innovation Capital, and València Game City
  • The event will take place on 27 and 28 September across the city, with La Harinera serving as one of the official venues.

Pokémon GO City Safari is coming to Valencia, the only city in Spain selected to host this global event, thanks to a collaboration between the Valencia City Council, through Valencia Innovation Capital, and Valencia Game City. The initiative offers players of all ages an innovative way to explore Valencia through Pokémon GO, discovering Pokémon throughout the city’s streets while connecting with fellow Trainers in person.

“The fact that Valencia has been selected as one of the European cities hosting Pokémon GO City Safari this year highlights the strength of our gaming industry and the talent within our ecosystem. It also reflects the work we are doing, together with companies and industry stakeholders, to position Valencia as a leading hub for video game innovation,” said Paula Llobet, Councillor for Innovation, Tourism and Investment Attraction.

Llobet added: “Pokémon GO is one of the world’s most popular video games and resonates strongly with younger generations. More importantly, it promotes values that we strongly believe in, such as perseverance, resilience and teamwork. These are positive values that the game helps foster among young people.”

Organised in collaboration with València Innovation Capital and València Game City, the event highlights how video games can serve as powerful tools for social engagement, culture and tourism. As Paula Llobet explained, because the game is played on mobile devices while exploring the city on foot, “it encourages people to discover places in Valencia they may never have visited before, to stay active and to socialise in real life. Players organise meetups, make new friends and share experiences, whether they are local residents discovering new parts of the city or visitors using Pokémon GO to explore the places they travel to.”

The event will take place on 27 and 28 September 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with La Harinera, the city’s innovation and technology hub, serving as one of the three official event locations. The venue regularly hosts activities, meetups and initiatives linked to Valencia’s video game ecosystem.

La Harinera will become a meeting point for Pokémon GO Trainers from around the world, where participants will be able to trade Pokémon, battle, compete in tournaments and obtain

exclusive merchandise. Throughout the two-day event, players will also have the opportunity to unlock exclusive in-game rewards available for a limited time only.

Pokémon GO City Safari perfectly aligns with the mission of the Valencia City Council, València Innovation Capital and València Game City to strengthen Valencia’s position as a global hub for the video game industry while attracting gaming enthusiasts from around the world.
