Description

DISCO, an innovative initiative inspired by the so-called “physical
internet” and global processes, will develop a new proposal within the
framework of the digital transition of urban freight logistics through living
labs or spaces for innovation.

Thanks to this initiative, the scope of urban logistics and sustainabl
plans will be expanded, facilitating their growth and adoption beyond traditional urban
boundaries, establishing mixed-use and flexible Functional Urban Areas, with
a Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and global dimension, and enhancing the
“edges” of these areas.

Information and data are at the heart of any digital transformation. As a
core component, DISCO will establish, on the one hand, a federated, transparent, and open data space for
urban freight transport that functions as
a one-stop shop, and, on the other hand, a community of stakeholders interested in
exchanging such data and pooling available assets. Thus, DISCO
will facilitate access to, the pooling of, and the exchange of data on urban freight transport
, based on forward-looking digital solutions.

DISCO has a duration of 42 months and involves 48 partners from 12 countries
(Italy, Germany, Greece, Spain, the United Kingdom, Sweden, France, the Netherlands,
Belgium, Finland, Denmark, and the Czech Republic), including the following
organizations from Valencia: Las Naves (Valencia City Council); T-Box (a startup at
offering advanced logistics services); and the Valenciaport Foundation.

Pilots in Valencia

València Innovation Capital will collaborate with the Valenciaport Foundation and
T-BOX in the City of Valencia’s Living Lab, where the feasibility of the
Supply Chain Hub will be demonstrated—a flexible logistics facility that will manage various
supply chains in the Valencia metropolitan area, both for
B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer) operations. The elements
to be tested include the breakdown and fragmentation of loads in each of the supply chains
; the application of AI (artificial intelligence) for the consolidation and
regrouping of loads (multisector and multiproduct); and the unification of distribution
into a single fleet.

Last-mile delivery will be handled by a fleet of
100% electric, zero-emission micromobility vehicles.
