FLASH PARK

Real-time parking space monitoring system

FLASH PARK

Flash Park is testing a technological solution in the outdoor car park of the Palacio de Congresos de València that provides real-time information on parking space occupancy and improves parking management through smart sensors and Bluetooth technology.

The pilot enables the validation of the Flash Park Point v1 devices in a real-world environment, assessing their reliability and accuracy under everyday operating conditions, while evaluating their potential to improve parking management. It also examines how this technology can help reduce congestion, enhance the user experience and generate valuable data to support urban mobility planning.

The project demonstrates how technology can optimise the use of a resource as limited as parking space. In addition to improving mobility and reducing unnecessary journeys, the data collected will support evidence-based decision-making and contribute to more efficient urban management.

Seven smart devices

The project has deployed seven smart devices. Five monitor parking space availability in real time within the outdoor car park, while the remaining two incorporate Bluetooth-based verification technology to ensure that designated reserved spaces are used only by authorised vehicles, without collecting users’ personal data.

The sensors operate autonomously thanks to an integrated battery and transmit information using Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) technology. Installation is quick and requires no civil engineering works, as each device only needs two drill holes to be fixed to the pavement. In addition, the devices are equipped with solar panels that significantly extend battery life through continuous recharging, providing a clear competitive advantage.

Through the management platform developed by Flash Park, the Palacio de Congresos de València can monitor the status of every parking space in real time and verify the occupancy of reserved spaces. The company also provides regular reports on parking occupancy and turnover, generating valuable information to analyse parking behaviour and assess the potential deployment of the solution in other urban environments.
