- More than 100 teachers and school leaders will explore how video games, gamification and artificial intelligence are being used to increase student engagement and support diverse learning needs
- “Level Up: Education & Video Games – Education Day”, organised by València Game City and Zynergic, will take place on 3 July at La Harinera
Valencia continues to explore new applications for video games beyond entertainment. This time, the focus is on education. On 3 July, the city will host a new edition of “Level Up: Education & Video Games – Education Day”, bringing together more than 100 teachers, school leaders and education professionals to discover innovative approaches that are helping to increase student motivation, personalise learning and better support diversity in the classroom.
The event is organised by València Game City, the strategic initiative led by Valencia City Council through València Innovation Capital to establish the city as an international hub for the video games industry, digital talent and immersive technologies, in collaboration with the Valencia-based company Zynergic.
Paula Llobet, Councillor for Tourism, Innovation and Investment Attraction, said: “València Game City is a strategic initiative that promotes new applications of video games in areas that have a direct impact on people’s lives, such as education, healthcare and wellbeing. This event gives teachers the opportunity to discover innovative tools that are already helping to transform the way students learn and teachers teach.”
Student disengagement, increasing diversity in classrooms and the need for more personalised learning have become some of the education sector’s greatest challenges. In response, a growing number of schools are introducing game-based learning, educational video games and artificial intelligence to create more engaging learning experiences tailored to the needs of individual students.
To bring these experiences closer to educators in Valencia, the event will feature five organisations currently developing innovative educational projects across different stages of education.
Among them is Zynergic, the Valencia-based company behind Eutopía, an educational video game that enables schools to develop competency-based learning through active teaching methodologies, better support diverse learning needs and automate assessment while students learn. As its founder, Ernesto Buñuel, explains: “When learning is adapted to each student’s needs, their potential emerges”. This philosophy underpins the development of the platform.
The programme will also feature: Editorial Aula, a publisher specialising in curriculum projects and digital learning resources for primary education; Nubo Learning, an educational video game designed to strengthen literacy, memory and attention skills among students with dyslexia; Kokoro Kids, an AI-powered educational platform based on neuroscience and learning science that adapts content to each child’s needs: and MBA Kids, an entrepreneurship school that uses gamified learning to develop leadership, financial literacy and critical thinking skills.
One of the event’s highlights will be the opportunity for participants to test these tools firsthand and speak directly with their creators about how they are being implemented in schools and the results they are achieving in the classroom.
Video games as educational tools
The event will also feature Miguel Ángel Azorín, a teacher specialising in active learning methodologies and gamification, who will share practical examples of how video games and game-based learning can increase student motivation, participation and engagement.
Through real case studies from schools, attendees will discover how these approaches are helping to create more personalised learning experiences tailored to the needs of every student.
Valencia strengthens its leadership in socially impactful gaming
This third edition reinforces Valencia’s commitment to educational innovation and to expanding the use of video games and immersive technologies in areas that deliver social impact.
Through València Game City, Valencia City Council promotes collaboration between companies, schools, universities and public institutions to develop projects capable of creating new opportunities in sectors including education, healthcare, culture and social inclusion.
The initiative forms part of the València Innovation Capital strategy, which aims to establish the city as one of the Mediterranean’s leading technology and innovation hubs by fostering talent, entrepreneurship and public-private collaboration. Level Up: Education & Video Games – Education Day will take place on 3 July, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at La Harinera.
