Description

The ToNoWaste project, funded by the European Commission’s Horizon Europe programme, aims to assess the problem of food waste by using science-based assessment systems that support informed decision-making and help identify the most sustainable strategies.

The project seeks to provide agri-food system stakeholders and decision-makers with more objective, integrated and standardised information on the impacts and overall co-benefits of their daily actions.

Pilots in Valencia

The project seeks to provide agri-food system stakeholders and decision-makers with more objective, integrated and standardised information on the impacts and overall co-benefits of their daily actions.

Las Naves leads the pilot project in Valencia together with the local partner team: Mercavalencia, Federation of Agri-food Cooperatives of the Valencian Community, Cuinatur and the Universitat Jaume I (UJI).

Actions
1. Coordination of the Valencia pilot.
2. Identification and development of Valencia’s stakeholder map.
3. Two annual communication and awareness-raising campaigns for food waste prevention and reduction.
4. Reactivation of the AGRO·LAB agri-food initiatives accelerator to promote entrepreneurship in the field of food waste prevention and reduction.
5. Identification and support in the assessment of innovative solutions for food waste prevention and reduction.
6. Support for the development and implementation in Valencia of digital tools for solution assessment.
7. Work in school canteens and with the entire educational community (CUINATUR).
8. Engagement of wholesale companies and farmers in the evaluation of innovative solutions (MERCAVALENCIA, COOPERATIVES).
